Character Role Analysis

Eusabio

Father Latour might be the top dog when it comes to the laws of Catholicism, but he knows hardly anything about the traditions and customs of the Native American people who live across Arizona and New Mexico.

That's why he often has to turn to his friend Eusabio for this kind of knowledge. Eusabio is a sort of go-between for the white colonizers and the Native American peoples. He's also trusty whenever Latour needs to confirm whether some of the local legends of New Mexico are true or false. Eusabio doesn't always know the answer, but he always seems to have something valuable to add.
