Character Role Analysis

The Furies

You could say that the Ghost of Clytemnestra is the antagonist… but she only appears briefly at the beginning of the play, and then disappears. In terms of time onstage—and also because they play a highly visible role as the prosecuting attorneys in Orestes's trial—we're going to say that Clytemnestra's minions, the Furies, are the main bad guys of the play. They're also ridiculously ugly.
