Flora and Ulysses Chapter 64 Summary

A Miracle

  • Still holding hands, Flora and William make their way along the road in the dark, behind Tootie.
  • Tootie is yelling Ulysses's name, William is crying, and Flora is totally unsure about what to do in this situation, so she starts laughing, and William joins in.
  • Tootie's not sure what's so funny, but eventually she catches the giggle bug, too, and laughs.
  • All of a sudden, William trips on Mary Ann's cord and both he and Flora fall on the ground.
  • In the fall, he breaks his glasses.
  • And he can see. He shouts out with excitement, and Tootie proclaims (sarcastically) that it's a miracle. Sure, Flora chimes in.
