Character Role Analysis

Barbicane/Michel Ardan

Barbicane and Ardan are as different as different can be. Barbicane is the quintessential American: practical, literal-minded, and a bit violent. Ardan, on the other hand, plays the role of eccentric Frenchman, charming the ladies and going on long monologues about the nature of art. Despite these differences—and maybe because of them—these two men end up becoming quite the team.
