Bishop Myriel

Bishop Myriel is pretty much the nicest guy in the world, so there's no one who could be a better role model for a recently released ex-convict like Jean Valjean. Even after Valjean robs him, Myriel does everything he can to give Valjean a fair chance to make a good life for himself. In the end, he makes Valjean promise to live an honorable life and to help those who are less fortunate than himself. And this is exactly what Valjean does, using Bishop Myriel as a guiding light whenever he's faced with a moral challenge.
