Humbert Humbert

Humbert Humbert is, much to our dismay, the main character with whom the reader identifies, but he is both hero and anti-hero, our friend for amusing us and our enemy for his moral repugnance. He himself admits to a duality and so he appropriately fills the roles of protagonist and antagonist.
