Roland is a dude from Panama who sells Lucy a camera. Oh, and right after she buys the camera, the two go back to his place and have sex. Bow-chicka-bow-wow.
Although their relationship doesn't go any further than that one hookup, their encounter is significant because it shows that Lucy doesn't feel much commitment to Paul, whom she's involved with at the time.
