Anny

Anny only shows up for one scene in this entire book, but it's clear that she holds a lot of power over Antoine. Despite his belief that human existence is absurd and meaningless, Antoine still loves Anny and wants to be with her. He even realizes what a miserable fail of a boyfriend he was in the past.

But, as Anny tells him, his revelation has come too late. She's already involved with another man, and she's too cynical to fall in love again. Too bad for Antoine. Looks like it's back to the drawing board for him and his existential suffering.
