Mrs. McCaslin

Character Analysis

Isaac's unnamed wife doesn't get much mention in the book—surprising, being that she's married to the protagonist. She married Isaac knowing he was heir to a plantation, and well, let's just say she wasn't happy about him relinquishing it and never lets him forget it. She tries to get him to change his mind by seducing him, but that doesn't work. Seems they had just that one sexual experience, but they stayed together until her death and she doesn't let him forget how bitter she is.
