Character Role Analysis

Mariah

Antagonists don't necessarily have to be evil villains like the Joker in Batman. Sometimes an antagonist is simply the character with whom our protagonist has an awful lot of conflict. In Lucy, Mariah totally fits that bill. Mariah indeed has her share of good qualities (go check out Mariah's "Character Analysis" if you don't believe us).

But she also has this tendency to really rub Lucy the wrong way by doing things like bringing her to a field full of daffodils and pushing her to read books about women's history. Those things may not sound like horrific acts to the average person, but they really manage to get Lucy's blood boiling.
