Character Analysis
This dude is "small and thin, with a goatee beard on his receding chin" (17.3); he has a bit of a limp too (17.6), and a lot of a bad attitude. Basta characterizes him as "a useless shot" (48.11), but he seems plenty willing to shoot at people and animals all the same. His fondness for violence isn't limited to guns, though, and he threatens Elinor by "seizing her by the nape of the neck" (50.28) in order to make her talk. Classy. Cockerell disappears when Capricorn dies, and we can't say that we'll miss him.
