Like Water for Chocolate Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

R

While much of the sex in Like Water for Chocolate is merely suggested, we are often left no choice but to imagine the scenes in our heads. Not that that's a bad thing. We kinda dig that Esquiviel doesn't go all trashy romance on us, describing every character's hoo-ha to the last minute detail.

In fact, because we're often pushed to the boiling points along with Tita and Pedro, we find their union in the dark room that much sweeter. Getting close, waiting, reaching, chasing, touching, fantasizing, it's all part of the foreplay. Of course, we're not saying that sex is everything; when it's done the right way it only adds to the urgency and passion of the novel.
