- Like we said, things are not really going well for Edward and his team. He's had to bring along some substandard equipment because he just couldn't afford the good stuff, and this has been setting them back.
- When they first got there, Mat went around and used one of the machines to scan the meadow to determine where to dig, but the signals were weak and didn't tell them much. Lousy cheap equipment…
- So Edward decided they should dig two trenches side-by-side and work in those. Nancy and Isabella are in one and Mat and Edward in the other.
- For the most part, Edward's team is pretty darn good. He really likes his little students and they're hard workers so he couldn't ask for much more.
- Just then, he hears the woman calling for the boy. It must be around noon. Edward has never seen the woman, but this time he hears her call the boy's name—"Eric!"
