A New Deal
- The Op tries to track down MacSwain and finds him in the lobby of his hotel.
- They go up to the Op's room, and MacSwain confesses that he had purposely given the Op the story about Ike Bush in the hopes that the Op would tell Bush to win the fight and then MacSwain could collect on some dough.
- The Op shows MacSwain the document signed by Myrtle and asks MacSwain to explain himself. The two men get into a fistfight, with the Op getting the upper hand.
- The Op takes MacSwain to the police station, and after hearing MacSwain's story, Noonan decides to question Peak Murry.
- This time around, Peak says that he and the other three men had lied about Max's whereabouts, so Max's alibi isn't so airtight anymore.
- Noonan goes to City Hospital to get a complete statement from Myrtle. What a tangled web, eh?
