Cedar Hill Inn
- The next morning, two detectives from San Francisco, Mickey Linehan and Dick Foley, arrive in Personville.
- The Op had requested that Mickey and Dick come to help him in his investigations.
- The Op wants Mickey to follow Pete the Finn and Dick to tail Lew Yard. The idea is to get Noonan, Pete, Yard and Thaler to all turn on each other.
- The Op figures that if he sets one against the other, then they'll be doing his job for him by trying to destroy each other.
- So the Op goes to City Hall to talk to Noonan, who just picked up Jerry Hooper and Tony Agosti, who are both part of Thaler's crew. Agosti is also the guy who killed Ike Bush.
- Noonan gets a tip that Thaler is hiding out at Cedar Hill Inn, located on the outskirts of the city. The whole police force goes along with the Op drive to the roadhouse loaded with machine guns, rifles, riot guns, and ammunition.
- Things aren't looking good for Thaler.
- When they get to the Inn, the police surround the house and then start spraying bullets for a solid five minutes.
- After they cease fire, they enter the house only to find beer spilling out from barrels (remember it's Prohibition era) and four dead bodies.
- The four dead men look foreign and they're wearing laborer's clothes (presumably hired to work the illegal liquor racket).
- Suddenly Noonan gets word that the First National Bank has been stuck up and Thaler is likely behind it.
- They rush back into the city.
