Character Role Analysis

Tor

In at least four different lifetimes, Tor hangs around causing trouble for Eric and Merle. In the oldest story, he is Thorolf and he orchestrates the whole kingly sacrifice. In the 10th century, he keeps insisting that his niece and nephew are his children—and doesn't care how many people die as long as he gets what he wants. And in 2073, he's the one who demands that Eric Seven be murdered to appease the gods. Maybe you even caught a quick glimpse of him in 1902? The man from the National Museum who pans Eric's masterpiece as "outdated" and primitive is named Tor Bearvald.

In short, if you're a protagonist in this book, Tor will cause you problems in this life or the next. You can count on it.
