The Prince and the Pauper Chapter 25 Summary

Hendon Hall

  • After that fiasco, Edward and Miles make their way to Hendon Hall.
  • On the way there, Miles tells Edward about his little rendezvous with the crazy hermit. He also tells him how much he loves the family that they're going to see.
  • Finally, Miles and Edward make it to Hendon Hall, and Miles sees his brother, Hugh. He tries to hug him, but Hugh denies knowing Miles. Not only that, but he also claims that a letter came six or seven years ago that said Miles was dead. And Miles's dad, brother, and a bunch of other people are also dead. Can you say suspicious?
  • This is a situation that Edward totally understands, so he tries to comfort Miles. Just then, Lady Edith, Miles's love interest, comes in and denies ever knowing him, even though she looks pretty surprised to see him.
  • When Miles realizes that his brother Hugh has married Lady Edith, he knows what's up: it's a plot to deny him his inheritance. He always knew that Hugh was a trickster.
  • Faced with this knowledge, Miles decides that the only answer is to kill his brother.
  • Hugh tells his servants to restrain Miles.
