Character Analysis
Vera never really comes into direct contact with John the pervert, but he's a big part of the story because Charlie knows him well. He's a dude who has been buying used underwear from Charlie since he was a kid and selling it. Charlie doesn't tell Vera about this right away, but when he does, she's shocked and worried for him.
Even though Vera expresses concerns, Charlie assures her that he trusts John and that he wouldn't hurt him. In the end, though, Charlie's involvement with John is part of his downfall. Jenny finds out about their arrangement and wants to make money, too, by letting John take pictures and videos of them. It isn't really John's thing, though, which contributes to Jenny and Charlie's break-up, and in doing so, to Charlie's death.
