Mo considers Anna Celeste her sworn enemy for life because, to put it simply, Anna Celeste is a snob. She's egged on by her mean mother, encouraged to make fun of Mo for not having a "real" family and not being one of the richer townspeople. But therein lies the real problem: All of these airs and prejudiced ideas aren't actually Anna Celeste's. She's just parroting back what she's heard her whole life. When Mo realizes this, she stops hating Anna Celeste and learns to tolerate her—even if they're not going to be best friends anytime soon.
