Perfect Chapter 28 Summary

Andre

  • Andre contemplates race, and how messed up the United States still is.
  • Jenna tells him that when she went to visit her family in the South, she learned that they still had segregated schools.
  • Andre asks if her family has heard that it's the 21st century, and Jenna gives him the "breaking the cycle of hate" thing again.
  • Andre goes to dance lessons with Liana. She works him hard.
  • After practice, he goes out into the hall to dry off the sweat, and who should he see but Shantell, the black cheerleader who snubbed him.
  • She's a little friendlier when she realizes he can dance, but only a little—after all, he gets private lessons, while her family can only afford group lessons.
  • He tells her his family worked their asses off to become successful, and she can, too.
  • She says don't worry, she will.
  • He asks if they can be friends, and she tells him no, because he has bad taste in girlfriends.
  • As she walks away, he notices that she's hot, although she's no Jenna, whom he forgot to call.
  • Jenna's been calling him, and she's annoyed, so he tells her he's been working on college applications with his dad and that he'll come over as soon as he gets cleaned up.
  • He wonders why he can't tell the girl he loves about his other love: dance.
