Perfect Chapter 42 Summary

Kendra

  • Kendra's shocked by the picture. She never suspected Cara was gay.
  • She can understand why Sean's mad, although she never expected him to go so far to get revenge.
  • Cara's reputation is pretty much trashed now—after all, Kendra says, nobody votes for gay people for homecoming royalty. She doubts Cara will even be able to go to prom.
  • In other news, she no longer has any energy, despite the diet pills Xavier's giving her.
  • Also, she's still sleeping with Gilles, and she hates it. But it only takes five or ten minutes, so she can deal—she only has to do it until her career takes off.
  • She's not going to prom either. She just doesn't feel like a kid anymore.
  • Jenna's going, though, and not with Andre. She's going with Bobby Duvall, though Andre doesn't know.
  • Jenna tries on a prom dress in her room, and Kendra tells Jenna it's wrong to go with Bobby. After all, Andre really loves her, and Kendra would give anything to have somebody love her like that.
  • Jenna says she's too young for real love, and besides, love is disposable. Just look at their mom, who left their dad after being married for twenty years.
  • Her mom overhears and starts crying. She tells them she left because their dad was drinking too much and sleeping with Shiloh.
  • So, that marrying-Patrick-right-away thing? She did it to provide for them. Oh, and by the way, Jenna looks beautiful in her prom dress.
  • Her mom walks out of the room and Jenna takes off the dress and puts her sweats back on.
  • Jenna tells Kendra she's only going to prom with Bobby so she can go. Besides, she says, Andre's too good for her. How could she possibly let herself love him back?
