- Robby fills Pearl in on all the details. A couple weeks ago, his mom was on her way to Paris and he had an audition for Redlands Symphony orchestra (since he plays the clarinet).
- He forgot his reeds at home, though, so he ran back to get them.
- When he got home, he noticed a car in the driveway but didn't make much of it.
- Once inside, he decided to change his shirt since it was all soaked from rushing home. Robby went to his parents' room, but the door was closed—and instead of opening it, Hoyt acted cagey with him.
- Robby knew something was up since his dad never acts like that, so he hid in the bushes until his dad's lady friend left the house.
- As he saw her leave, Robby noticed his dad kiss the chick and tell her goodbye.
- He couldn't hear anything, since he was in the bushes and all, but he put two and two together and suspects his dad is cheating on his mom.
- Pearl's not sure what to say. When she asks Robby about the audition, he admits he missed it because of the kerfuffle with his dad.
- He ended up just going out to the fields and talking to an ostrich (of all things). He didn't want to confront his dad, but he needed to get his thoughts out.
- After Pearl is done making fun of him, he goes inside to take a nap.
- Pearl, on the other hand, makes some coffee and decides to take a cup to Amiel.
